笠山は、北長門海岸国定公園の中心に位置し、山頂に直径30ｍ・深さ30ｍの小噴火口を持つ、標高112ｍの小さな火山です。約1万年前に噴火し、安山岩の溶岩台地と、空中高く噴き上げられたマグマのしぶき（スコリア）が降り積もってできた丘（スコリア丘）でできており、その形が市女笠に似ているため、「笠山」と呼ばれるようになりました
A small volcano surrounded by beautiful spots
Located at the center of the Kita-Nagato Kaigan Quasi-National Park, Mt. Kasayama is a 112-meter high volcano composed of a pyroclastic cone, standing on an andesite lava plateau. The crater is 30m in diameter and 30m in depth.
Citrus Nipponokoreana Tanaka, a nationally protected species of mandarin orange, grow naturally at the foot of the small mountain.
周圍諸多美麗景點的小型火山
笠山位於北長門海岸國家公園中心，聳立於安山岩熔岩台地上，是一座由火山碎屑錐體形成的高112公尺火山。火山口直徑30公尺，深30公尺。山腳下自然生長著受國家保護的柑橘品種「高麗橘」。從明神池經西北端虎崎到火山頂部的3.5公里「笠山自然研究路線」，可享受探索自然的樂趣。
笠山の東麓にある天然の水族館 国指定天然記念物の海跡湖
明神池は、笠山の溶岩と潮流の作用で海が埋め残したかん水湖です。岩の隙間を海水が出入りし、そのため潮の満干で水面がわずかながら上下します。池にはマダイ・クロダイ・ボラなど、約20種類の海水魚が生息しています。【国指定天然記念物】
Myōjinike Pond
Seawater flows in and out through gaps in the rocks, and marine fish swim in the pond, creating a natural aquarium.
明神池
海水從岩石縫隙中流進流出，海魚在池中游動的天然水族館。
